Sexologist Noni Ayana discusses how myths and stereotypes effect how society, and especially Black men, display romantic love and other types of intimacy toward Black women.

For some women, lack of intimacy can lead to loneliness, distrust, increased anxiety and stress, and at times depression.  Why do so many Black women refuse to cry? Why do some Black folks feel uncomfortable with experiencing emotions other than anger, and when Black women express these emotions, why are they often shamed for doing so?
